BEHAVE THYSELF

These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God 1 Timothy 3:14-16

 Behaviour is defined as the aggregate of the responses, reactions or movements made by an organism in any situation. Behaviour has to do with your conduct, demeanour, comportment and attitude in any given situation. Paul knew that as a Christian minister, there are different situations that will confront Timothy both in life and ministry. And in whatever situation, he must learn how he ought to behave himself in a manner that is consistent with his high, holy and heavenly calling in Christ.

If Timothy has not learnt HOW to behave himself in the face of different situations, those situations will naturally force you to misbehave.  And it’s why his mentor and coach in this Christian life and ministry had to write to him some guidelines and principles that should guide him when confronted with some situations. Note, if you are not taught and trained on how to handle some situations, situations have a way of tripping you off.

The Scripture is replete with godly principles to guide our behaviours in different situations of life. We also need correct mentors and teachers who by reason of experience and maturity are qualified to teach us how to behave correctly. Parents must teach their children the way of correct behaviours by example and instructions. Elders in faith must teach the younger generations how to behave themselves.

Anyone who is not taught will misbehave.

Question 1: Could it be that the gross misbehavior in the society and churches is an indication of lack of correct teachers?

Question 2: Who is your teacher?

Question 3: What are you learning?

Question 4: What are you teaching others?

Question 5: Are you teachable?

There is an HOW of BEHAVIOUR. You HAVE TO BE TAUGHT TO BEHAVE WELL!
