The influence of today’s society has been largely responsible for the destruction of one of the world’s most important institutions: marriage! Things like infidelity and divorce just don’t shock us as much as they used to. In fact, we’re in danger of accepting such things as the norm.
In our day and age, it’s not easy to find a happily married couple. However, stability in marriage should be the rule and not the exception. We shouldn’t settle for less than a happy home. God has given us principles in His Word, which, if put into practice, will make it easier for us to achieve our objectives.
In the Bible, there are some instructions specifically directed at husbands, and wives, such as those found in Ephesians 5:22-23. There are also many general teachings that can enrich the marriage relationship. One good example of this would be a Philippians 2:2-11. And, in 1 Corinthians 13 we discover the secrets of true love.
If you are having problems in your marriage today, don’t run from God. Run to Him. Don’t give up! There is hope. God has the answer. Lay your difficulties at the foot of the cross. Pray fervently and consistently. Ask the Lord to minister to your heart through His Word. Communicate with your spouse. Be honest about your doubts, feelings and worries and needs. Pray together about the things that are bordering you. Changes may not happen immediately, but they will come. The Word of God has the power to change lives and marriages. When we seek the Lord and follow His recommendations, He is able to resurrect from the ashes.
Solid, stable families- that’s what God wants to see. So, accept the challenge and work together to build (re-build) a more loving, healthy, and happy home 🏡🏠
